This year’s event is all about going back to the very roots of the game you love. The best place to do that in this area is on the Donald Ross Course at French Lick. And not just because the course was designed by Ross, a world-renowned architect who was born in 1872 in Scotland, the birthplace of golf, and learned the game at its legendary St. Andrews course. The Ross Course also recently added to its lore by being named the “Third best public course in Indiana” by Golf Week in its February issue. The magazine’s raters termed the Ross layout “one of the greatest examples of classic golf course architecture.” Built in 1917, the course underwent a $4.6 million restoration in 2006 that players say gives it that nostalgic old school feel, with the warm feeling of stepping into yesteryear. The course’s biggest mark on history is Walter Hagen winning the 1924 PGA Championship there, one of his 11 majors that rank him third all-time. A major enhancement to this year’s classic is the possibility of your winning a rare free outing on the new Pete Dye Course at the French Lick Resort, which has been named Indiana’s top golf course by three different national golf publications. And that’s not all. This prize is for a foursome, so three of your buddies are really going to like you, plus it includes another free round at the Ross Course and free overnight accommodations at the magnificent West Baden Springs Hotel. The prize will be awarded at the end of the reception after the shoot-out competition. But event planners didn’t stop there. They’ve cooked up many unique, fun contests on the course for all players. We think you’ll enjoy the surprises. Special Room Rates at Special Hotels Special discounted room rates are available at two of the Midwest’s premier resort destinations for our guests participating in the Dome Golf Classic. Rates are $169 per night at the West Baden Springs Hotel, once called the eighth wonder of the world for its astonishing domed atrium. Rates are $149 per night at the nearby French Lick Springs Hotel, which also sports a dazzling casino. Other amenities are the world famous mineral springs, spas, pools, lush gardens, a tennis center, riding stables, retail shops, and restaurants. With confirmation of your registration for the Dome Golf Classic, you’ll receive a group identification number to reserve your room. Reservations are needed by July 23 to receive the special rates. Where Your Money Goes Proceeds from the golf classic benefit the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, who generously support the needy people of the area through wholehearted devotion to their ministries and prayer. They live to serve others, be it the homeless or hungry, struggling newcomers, the troubled or hurting, the ill or illiterate, or those on spiritual journeys. They reach out to help every day, without fail. About the Ferdinand Benedictine Sisters From their founding in 1867, the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand, Indiana, have touched countless lives through their prayer, ministry and presence.
